DehraDun: Chief Secretary Dr. S. S. Sandhu held a meeting with the officials of “Scheme for Upgradation of Post Harvest Apple Logistics (SUPHAL)” plan for upgradation of apple storage and transit development after harvesting in the secretariat today. The Chief Secretary directed that the use of drone technology as well as the construction of rope-ways and winter houses should be taken into the policy made for transit and storage after production of apple crop.
He said that the mountainous atmosphere of Uttarakhand will make it more reliable by the low electricity costs in the winter houses. This is why provisions need to be made to attract private sector people in construction of winter houses. Rope-way can play a crucial role in the development of logistics, the Chief Secretary said. This rope-way can be used in other functions during the off season. Advanced drone technology will play a crucial role in transit in the coming years. He also insisted on the promotion of processing units within the state. It said that large scale installed processing units should also be given benefits under the MSME policy.
