New Delhi, (PTI) Researchers have identified a potential hidden reservoir of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in body cells that might explain its persistance and reoccurrence.
The researchers at the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences, New Delhi, explored extracellular vesicles (EVs)–microscopic particles released by cells–and uncovered an important piece of information.
The RNA or genetic material of SARS-CoV-2 was present in the EVs of individuals who had tested negative via the standard RT-PCR methods, they said.
